Professor Brian Kavanagh RIP.

We were greatly saddened to hear of the untimely death of Professor Brian Kavanagh.  In June 2018, Professor Kavanagh was Conferred with an Honourary Fellowship by the Joint Faculty and ICSI in recognition of his dedication to and achievements in Medicine.  Professor Kavanagh was a world renowned clinician and investigator and his contributions to medical science are outlined by Professor John Laffey, Dr John Bates and Dr Brian Kinirons in their citation,.  Professor Kavanagh provided mentorship and guidance to countless Irish doctors as they progressed through their training and fellowship programs within Sick Kids, Toronto.   He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and colleagues within the University of Toronto where he held the Dr Geoffrey Barker Chair in Critical Care Medicine.  Finally he will be missed by all of the Irish medical diaspora across North America and the medical community here in Ireland.
